Israelites Caleb and Joshua circa 1440 b. c. spied-out some of the southern portion of the land of Ham’s son Canaan (the Holy Land) and noted three giants in the town called Kiryat Arba, the town of the giant Arba and his three sons (see Numbers 13: 22), which following then forty years of wandering in the Negev was conquered by the Israelites and renamed Hebron, the same etymological root as the word Heber who was a great grandson of Shem and namesake of the Hebrews, and Kiryat Arba where is the Cave of the Patriarchs (burial site of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, five hundred years before Joshua).
