While the rainfall from hurricane Ian has been quite devastating (20 inches in 1 day), the storm surge was under 10 feet, that’s 1/3rd the level of the storm surge caused by hurricane Katrina which was nearly 30 feet, thus collating with the initial reports that the windspeeds of Ian on the ground upon landfall in southwestern Florida were sustained 80 mph with gusts over 110 mph.
