Several early church leaders in the decades following the resurrection of Jesus Christ opined that because it was written that a day to Elohim is as a thousand years (II Peter 3: 8), the Messiah would return about two thousand years hence (in our day), early church leaders such as Tertullian, Papias, Methodius, Lactantius, and Hippolytus of Rome, “young earth creationists” believing the Bible.
