The emperor of Japan is such a big deal because the first emperor Jimmu (circa is circa 700 b. c.) is said to have been the son of the sun goddess Amaterasu, that first emperor Jimmu also known as Kamu-Yamato, and before him the leaders were known as Sumera No Mikoto/Okimi, so their descent from Sumer from progeny of Ham (Kamu) bears out the migrations and navigations of the ancients.
