Chuck Grassley had better make sure that the Senate votes on Kavanaugh no later than Wednesday because if he doesn’t, the Democrats will have won and Grassley will be seen complicit with them, which would put him in the pantheon of iconic Republican “mavericks” along with John McCain, Bob Corker, and Jeff Flake. Grassley would be further complicit in that Kavanaugh just might win the vote this week, Wednesday at the latest, and if he wouldn’t win, his loss would be a rallying cry for the Republicans going into the midterms, the Supreme Court once again a big motivating factor as it was in 2016.
