Undoubtedly some not directly involved in the cabal at the FBI against Trump though knew about it, for instance that the Golden Shower Dossier was already known to be suspect (the public was laughing about its rumored content already), yet those tangential and ostensibly honest people in the FBI were really powerless to do much about the scheme, now counting on public outrage to finish the job of cleaning the dirt out of the FBI (and the DoJ, State Department too).
