Amerigo Vespucci sailed with Alonso de Ojeda to “the new world” several times when they named the continent America, supposedly for Amerigo, but probably for people of Amorica, apparently Amorites who anciently sailed to the western hemisphere from Amorica of Brittany (after the Ice Age), or from the homeland of the Amorites in the Levant (during the Ice Age). The Veneti of Amorica with their capital at Vannes spoke an indo european language like spoken by the Veneti of the region of Venice, Italy, on the upper Adriatic, so that Vespucci named Venezuela for Venice because of houses built on stilts in Venice like those at lake Maracaibo in Venezuela could actually have been more familiar than he really knew.
