Herodotus preceded Plato by about a hundred years, so when Herodotus encountered “Atlantes” in northwestern Africa, their name was news to him, and the fact that Plato later described the geography of Atlantis having extended eastward as far as Libya (on the north side of the Mediterranean to Italy too) confirms that Atlanteans lived in that region for 9,000 years before Solon’s time wrote Plato, but years counted anciently sometimes as lunar cycles, that the Ice Age ended actually circa 1500 b. c.
