Halfway up the western lobe of Africa on the Atlantic coast is the island and bay of Arguin where the big ice age river Tamanrasset had flowed by (when the sea level was a few hundred feet lower), the island previously known as Cerne supposedly founded by the phoenician Hanno circa 500 b. c., yet Cerne is where (according to Diodorus Siculus) the Amazons under Myrina defeated the Atlantioi (Atlanteans) circa 1300 b. c., when the sea level had risen to its current level only decades previously.
