It’s obvious that the history recorded in Genesis from the days of Abraham was written in his days then was passed down for 500 years to Moses because the towns called Kiryat Arba and Elath in Abraham’s day were updated when Moses wrote the book of Exodus to their respective names in his day, Hebron and Bethlehem, Canaanite Kiryat Arba having been changed apparently to honor the progeny of Heber ironically, Elath changed to Beyt Lehem by the Canaanites in honor of the Akkadian goddess of fertility Lahmu, that town Bethlehem meaning house of bread in Hebrew spoken also by the Canaanites.
