Laban (the brother of Rebecca who married Abraham’s son Issac circa 1900 b. c.) means white, just as Lebanon means white (mountains or cliffs), and Phoenicia (where today are Lebanon and Syria) was named for Phoenix (phonics) circa 1400 b. c., a son of Cadmus, later Syria named for Tyre (Sour) which was built on a nearshore island circa 1100 b. c. after the Ice Age had ended. Sidonia was the first name for that coastal region, for Sidon a son of Canaan, who was also known as Poseidon, during the Ice Age.
