Aztlan the Land to North the Aztecs’ Homeland Which Though They Departed Clearly Because They Didn’t Like It

Why do the Aztecs (Mexicans) claim that the U. S. southwest is theirs considering that their ancestors departed the region a thousand years ago because they found it unsatisfactory?
