Before Roe v. Wade became law in 1973, sixteen states had banned abortions except in certain special circumstances, thirty banned abortion all together, and three allowed abortions generally. For almost 200 years, each state had been free to make laws to legalize abortion, so today should Roe v. Wade be cancelled, how many states would keep liberal abortion laws by passing legislation as the legislators’ constituents would want, maybe 30, all of the blue states and a few purple ones too perhaps?
