Some of Kush’s progeny (see Genesis 10) after the Tower of Babel moved southwestward into Africa while others moved eastward from Kish and Khuzestan to found cities such as Kushasthali (submerged) in the shadow of the Hindu Kush mountains, and some moved northward from there up into Kashmir then down the valley of the Yurungkash (white jade) river to found Kashgar at the far western end of the Tarim basin (western China) which during the Ice Age was verdant, now stark desert.
