Ish as in Polish means the same as ska in Polska (the Polish name for Poland), like ski and skaya, which mean pertaining to (or progeny), in this case, the Polan tribe, a Slavic speaking people of Thrace who moved into the territory eventually named for them, Poland, when the Ice Age had ended. The suffix ska is like the skoi in Pelagskoi, progeny of Heber’s son Peleg, some of whom having settled in Iberia of the Caucasius after the Tower of Babel, others on to the Aegean region where they were named Pelagskoi by their Thracian neighbors to the north (progeny of Japheth’s son Tiras).
