Ancient Hungarian legend tells that Japheth’s son Magog had twin boys named Hunor and Magor who after the Tower of Babel moved northward and came upon women who were daughters of Togarmah’s son Alan (reported in the Chronicles of Jerahmeel 14th century and in an 11th century Arabic translation of the Josippon) whose progeny came to be known as the Savardi, named for Sabir who was another of Togarmah’s many sons (among whom were Turqi, Khazar, and Bulgar). The Hungarians and Huns were named for Hunor, and the Magyars who are also known as the Szovaros (for Sabir) named for Magor.
