Agadir which means fortress in Phoenician is a city in Morocco on the Atlantic coast just north of the Souss River near the western end of the Atlas Mountains, while Gades now called Cadiz on the southern coast of Spain near the Sierra Morena Mountains was named for Gades, brother of Atlas and grandson of Canaan, the Phoenicians who were Canaanites named for Agenor’s son Phoenix circa 1400 b. c.
