Japheth’s son Gomer (see Genesis 10) was father of the Cimmerians, that tribal designation thereby overarching the progenies of Gomer’s sons such as Togarmah whose sons included Tarki (Turkey) and Kaukas (or Kavkas), namesake of the Caucasus mountains. King Kartios was another son of Togarmah, namesake of the Kartvelians of the Caucasus who though early-on adopted Iberian language, that of Heber (a great grandson of Shem) whose progeny also settled in Thracian territory to the west, the Hebrus river from the Balkans into the Aegean having been named for him.
