Seemingly the name of the great metallurgist of the pre-Flood world, the legendary Tubal-Cain, means Tubal the metallurgist, after the Flood and Babel shortened to Balkan (mountains) and Vulcan (Roman god) by the Pelasgians who were progeny of Peleg a son of Heber (see Genesis 10), born out by that the Aramaic (of Aram a son of Shem) word queni means metallurgist, and in Hebrew queini (Kenites) the same. Whether Tubal was shortened to Bal or Vul or from the Canaanite Baal is somewhat irrelevant next to the etymology of Cain used in names of Kenite towns of the ice age Negev called Kina and Kain.
