No Huge Storage Batteries Surplus Wind Power During Windy Periods so Backup Fossil Fuel Needed While Plants Shutdown

The mostly western states of the U. S. with relatively much wind powering shut-down the fossil fuel backup power generating facilities when it’s windy, yet there is no infrastructure for storing all the excess wind-power generated during the windy periods, thus when the wind dies down, the fossil fuel facilities need to be scaled up again, down again, up again; expensive, foolish.
