The apostle Peter cut-off the ear of the Roman soldier Malchus when they came to seize the Messiah Jesus (betrayed by Judas), yet Jesus healed Malchus’s ear back on, however, the fact that Jesus allowed Apostles to carry swords for defense is very instructive, that the means to defend one’s self is proper.
