Well documented are the dispersions of the tribes of Gomer’s sons Ashkenaz (Scythians) and Togarmah (Turks) but not of Riphath, for whom were named the Carpathian mountains, Kar (though in Pelasgian) meaning craggy and ripathian of Riphath, for Carpathian, his progeny who moved into northern Europe when the Ice Age ended, much later to become known as Germanic (language speakers) beginning by the Romans for the Germani tribe against whom they battled.
