After the blood of an animal was shed to provide covering for disobedient Adam and Eve who were later told by Elohim (a plural word) that through their seed the Messiah would come, they knew the Messiah would come in human form, and may by the symbolism of the slain animal have gained the insight that He (Jesus) would be killed (for our sin) to later resurrect, defeating the purposes of Satan.
