Only through the lines of Noah’s grandsons Arphaxad and Canaan was the phonetic alphabet used in writing the book of Genesis (recording from Genesis 1: 1 onward) carried forward, the Canaanites having adopted the language and writing of the Hebrews (named for Heber), their phonetic writing system later brought to Greece by Phoenix and Cadmus (Phoenicians) when the Ice Age was ending.
