During the Ice Age when sea level was a few hundred feet lower, where today is the Yellow Sea and southward the East China Sea was mostly dry land, and where today are the Ryukyu Islands (part of Japan where is Okinawa) was high ground beyond which was (and is) deep ocean, so that impressive submerged ruins are found off such as Yonaguni Island of the Ryukyu’s and Tiger Well Island west of Taiwan proves the Jomon culture of the Ice Age, their pottery found in many parts of the western Pacific.
