The sons of Aram listed in Genesis 10 all moved east from Mesopotamia after the Tower of Babel, son Hul to where today is Golestan at the southern end of the Caspian Sea, son Gather to the north slope of the Kopet Dag mountain range at Gathar in today’s southern Turkmenistan, son Mash having founded Mashhad in today’s northeastern Iran, and son Uz where today is Uzbekistan.
