Tiamat was the Assyrian (progeny of Asshur a son of Shem) goddess named for what the Hebrews called the Deep, Tehom, the world ocean, her husband in the Assyrian pantheon Abzu, also known as Zuab, “the all knowing father,” for whom were named the Greater and Little Zab rivers which flow from the eastern Taurus and northern Zagros mountains, after the Tower of Babel.
