Subartu was a nation of mountain dwellers in the lower valleys of the Zagros during the Ice Age, rivals of the city states of Sumer just to the west in Mesopotamia, the Subartu though when the Ice Age ended migrated far to the northeast, Siberia, and Subartu named for Sabir (Sawir) who was a son of Togarmah, another Turqi whose progeny were known as the Tukri, neighbors of Subartu in the Zagros mountains.
