When Goliath Advanced Toward David the Shepherd Boy Rushed Forward Perhaps to Even Close Range Shocked the Big Galoot

Goliath had a shield-bearer before him when David confronted the Philistine giant in central Israel (see 1st Samuel ch. 17), but when Goliath advanced for the kill, David unpredictably made a rush (perhaps diagonally) toward the fierce giant, surprising both Goliath and his shield-bearer caught out of position, allowing David’s sling shot to Goliath’s forehead beginning the Israelites’ rout of the Philistines.
