The first name by which humankind knew the Creator was Elohim, later (among other names) Adonai, both plural terms denoting “the Trinity,” Father, Son, and Spirit, in compliment to the name Yahweh (I am), the Father in oneness with Son and Spirit. Lord later substituted for Yahweh in some translations of the Bible means bread-guarder (hlaford) in Old English, Elohim the giver of the Bread of Life.
