U. S. Forces in Afghanistan Different Than Closer Less Risky Locations in Germany South Korea & Syria

Having a U.S. base in Afghanistan is far different than the bases in Germany and South Korea, obviously, not surrounded by belligerents whereas in Afghanistan Muslims in the millions threaten the base, all around, and even the base in Syria is far different than in Afghanistan (surrounded by Pakistan, China, and Iran), in northeastern Syria protecting the oil with flights from the Mediterranean not far away.
