Not everyone claiming to be a Christian is one, so there’s nothing wrong in asking professing Christians about what is their basis for believing that they’re saved by grace and bound for heaven. The truly born again will be touched by the love shown by someone concerned enough to ask those telling questions, while those not yet born again will probably squirm a bit.
