When Abel offered his animal sacrifice, he was emulating Elohim’s sacrifice of an animal for its skin to cover naked Adam and Eve, but righteous Abel did not eat the animal as had not Adam and Eve because it was taboo until after the Global Flood when Noah offered animal sacrifices which he was free to eat and probably did. After the Flood, with seasons and the Ice Age, fruits and vegetables though plentiful were not available in winter over much of the world when though meat was much available, Elohim’s provision for humankind until His return to redeem the Creation (except rejecters of Messiah Jesus).
