When the Romans destroyed the Temple in Jerusalem and the Jews scattered to the four winds, some moved north of the Caspian Sea to unite with the Khazars whom the king Joseph ben Aaron said where descendants of Khazar, a son of Togarmah (Tocharians) and grandson of Japheth (see Genesis 10), as were Ujur (Uyghurs), Tauris (of the Taurus mountains), and Bulgar (Bulgarians), among six other sons. Joseph ben Gorion wrote that Turqi (Turkey) was one of Togarmah’s sons.
