Controversy surrounds the founding of Thebes in Boeotia of Greece circa 1500 b. c., whether founded by perhaps Pelasgian Ogyges or by Cadmus a Canaanite, but it’s probably a bit of both, for Thebe the namesake of Thebes and wife of Ogyges was a niece if Cadmus, a niece too if Phoenix for whom the Phoenicians became known, previously known as Canaanites or Sidonians.
