The kings list of the Canaanite city state Tyre begins with Agenor, whose son Phoenix brought phonics (consonantal alphabet) to the Aegean sea region when the Ice Age had recently ended, when what was an inland hillock became the nearshore island of Tyre, from the Semitic word Tsur (Syria) meaning rock. Sidon (named for Canaan’s first born son) was the dominant Canaanite coastal city during the Ice Age, its ruins now found submerged offshore Saida, the submerged original home of “Poseidon.”
