Although Republican U. S senator Bill Cassidy had voted that an impeachment trial of a former U. S. president is unconstitutional, yesterday he signaled that he could vote to convict Trump anyway in saying that the impeachment prosecution team of the House did a much better job than did Trump’s legal team, yet today he says he’d like to see Trump’s team produce the evidence that leads the former president to believe the 2020 presidential election was rigged, a face-saving maneuver by Cassidy in response to the backlash coming his way, creating a golden gateway for Trump’s team to enter.
