The warrior Joshua who delivered the Israelites into the Promised (to Abraham) Land is a shortened form of Yehoshua meaning Yahweh saves/delivers (yasha) from judgment, and Hosanna of the same etymology, Yahweh (Elohim) save us, the refrain which greeted Jesus the Messiah when he entered Jerusalem to face His fate on the cross, then to resurrect, Christianity sprung from that event.
