It is the president’s Constitutional responsibility to nominate a Supreme Court pick to replace a departed justice in a timely manner, then the Senate has the option to delay, reject, or confirm the president’s nominee, so the ball will be in Mitch McConnell’s court upon receipt of Trump’s selection.
