When Alexander the Great took control of the Holy Land, he began to call it Palestine rather than Israel, labeling continued by the Roman Empire and even by Bible scholars (and in Bibles) up unto this day, but when Alexander the conquerer entered the land, the Philistine nation for whom he named Palestine had been vanquished or assimilated into the Jewish population several centuries previously.
