Rather Than the Regular Trees Planted on Private & Public Property Why Not Food Producing Ones Everywhere?

Isn’t it odd that the doomsday environmentalists and the traditional conservationists plant trees which are rarely the kinds producing fruit for us to eat, so shouldn’t that be a major thrust of tree-planters in both the public and private spheres?
