While whom would be called the Pilgrims were begun being persecuted by the crown church of England, the Huguenots in France were being persecuted by the Catholics such that some of the Huguenots sailed to Florida to found Saint Augustine which a few years later was taken away by the Spanish Catholics in 1565. The first Thanksgiving was actually practiced by the Huguenots in “the New World,” about forty years before the Pilgrims did, thus a rich French Protestant heritage in America, which we hope will rekindle in modern France as the return of Jesus Christ approaches.
