Wikipedia says that the Canaanite languages were Semitic, that Hebrew was one of many Canaanite languages (and the only one still spoken), yet Wiki notes that the word Hebrew is from Heber (a great grandson of Shem), and Canaan a son of Ham, thus essentially admitting, according to the Table of Nations (Genesis 10), that the Canaanites had adopted the Hebrew language after the Tower of Babel when the language which became known as Hebrew had become one of many languages.
