When the Ice Age ended, the snowpack thousands of feet deep gone from northern Europe, progeny of Japheth’s grandson Ashkenaz moved from the lower Danube region upstream into northern Germany where they became known as the Sachsens of Saxons, and some of them become known as the Angles, named for fishhooks or for a narrow peninsula into the Baltic Sea.
