Uniformitarianism is the belief that all natural processes are as they have been since the beginning “billions of years ago,” while the Word’s book of Genesis clearly teaches the earth is only thousands of years old and a global flood about a third of the way through that time since the six days of creation, so the old earth creationists are stuck with saying that the account in the book of Genesis presented by Elohim was the best way to explain the (supposed) history of the earth according to uniformitarianism. (The Egyptians had a symbol for a million, and the ancient Hindus concocted the ancient Yugas of time in the billions of years, so counting into the billions was no great feat for the ancients.)
