The Founding Fathers believed that the U. S. Constitution could be a successful guide for the people as long as the people would remain generally moral, able to police themselves by identifying wrong and correcting it according to the precepts for societal order in the Constitution, which is why the Bible was taught for morality (and salvation) in all of the colleges in the Founding days of the Country.
