Have you noticed the establishment media types are extremely reluctant to call political folk heroine Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez a populist? So why do you suppose a very influential Democrat such as AOC who is “bucking the system” would not be designated a populist? It’s because populism is generally seen in a positive light (popular grassroots political opinion and support) belied though by AOC’s space-cadet proposals, totally impractical, horribly ill-advised (or just dreamed-up), while president Trump’s appeal as a populist is by constitutional nationalism, to Make America Great Again and now to KAG.
