Not many people buy the story that president Trump suddenly learned that over a hundred Iranians would be killed by the planned air attack on the three installations involved in the downing of the U. S. drone, so the deciding factor perhaps was that if the Strait of Hormuz were closed because of warfare after the U. S. attack, then a big sources of oil for the EU from the Middle East would be cutoff, and for China which gets a big portion of its oil from Iran, a side benefit that the talks with China continue.
