All things being equal, of course the more merited the person the more likely should be his/her admission into the U. S. for citizenship, but because the more ambitious, dedicated, and grateful immigrants tend to vote Republican, that would spell trouble for the Democrats hence the resistance against Trump’s position on this (not to mention because of general TDS).
