The Philistines possessed little more than the Gaza Strip, where most of the Palestinians live today, the Philistines who disappeared from history by circa 700 b. c., yet later the Greeks (under Alexander the Great) then the Romans, to spite the Israelites, called their Promised Land for the Philistines, Palestine, that name which inappropriately has been applied to the Holy Land by anti-Semites ever since.
